dr wood

Melinda Wood, Managing Veterinarian

She was born and raised along the Gulf Coast and completed both of her degrees at Texas A&M University. She earned her B.S. in Marine Biology in 2007 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Dr. Wood started her career at Banfield Pet Hospital and practiced for several years in the Fort Worth area before transitioning to a Managing DVM position at Portland Veterinary Wellness Center in Portland, Oregon. Over the years, she has found joy in mentorship of other veterinary professionals as well as building partnerships with clients and fostering a great client experience. Her medical interests include soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and parasitology. In her free time, she enjoys reading a good book, knitting, enjoying nature, as well as continuously learning. Her favorite travel destinations typically include a good aquarium, zoo, or museum. While she loves all pets, she does have a soft spot for the smaller dog breeds, especially Chihuahuas and Dachshunds.

In the fall of 2009, she moved to Denver with her husband, Justin. Since then, she has enjoyed working in general practice.

Dr. Charlie lives in Harvey Park with Justin and five critters: Minion the terrier mix and Albus the miniature poodle along with Abita, Clementine and Matilda the cats. In her spare time, Jamie is an avid reader and also enjoys cooking and playing video games.

She has been spreading her wings in general practice and urgent care. Makaela, Veterinary Assistant

Mak currently serves our team as a Veterinary Assistant and will soon be a Registered Veterinary Technician through Penn Foster College. Though she has been in the field for years, perhaps the most impactful experiences that have shaped her approach and given her personal, first-hand understanding of veterinary medicine, are the 26 dogs she has owned in her life. Each of them are near and dear to her heart, and many of them experienced serious medical conditions, premature death or otherwise required extensive veterinary care. The love in her heart manifests as an enormous amount of compassion for owners and joy in working with patients.

ann

Kendall, Veterinary Assistant

Kendall has been saving and caring for animals since she was a young child. She started in the field in 2003 and has since impacted hundreds of pets across many different specialties including emergency, internal medicine, surgery, and dermatology, though her favorite was oncology. She herself is the owner of a cancer survivor–her beautiful pit/lab mix, Nikita, who you’ll find running and swimming with Kendall at Chatfield State Park. This personal experience lends to Kendall’s ability to relate to our clients as she knows what it feels like to deeply love an animal with her whole heart.
